Wild Orchids

At this time of year in the garrigue area of France, wild orchids flower on rough ground, on roadsides and, for some varieties, along stream beds. The Barlia robertiana is the most common – there are around 30 of them in the wooded area of my garden. This terrestrial temperate climate orchid is so common that it is not considered to be a protected species in France.
